Vazební věznice a ÚPVZD Brno

Na startovní čáře se sešlo více než 900 běžců, včetně příznivců ze státních a neziskových organizací i firem, kteří společně podporují nejen myšlenku Žluté stužky, ale také zaměstnávání lidí po výkonu trestu. Tato událost, která každoročně spojuje nadšence běhu s cílem podpořit druhé šance, přitáhla zájem i z evropských zemí. Neziskové organizace z Norska, Chorvatska, Lotyšska a Litvy plánují uspořádat své vlastní běhy inspirované českým modelem.

O úspěch akce se tradičně postarala i známá tvář moderátorky České televize Barbory Černoškové, patronky dětské části závodu. Ambasadorem projektu je herec a scénárista Petr Čtvrtníček, který svou přítomností dodal akci nádech humoru a lehkosti. Hudební doprovod zajistila kapela Gipsy Brothers s Davidem Krausem, která vytvořila nezapomenutelnou atmosféru.

Vítězství v běhu si opět připsala štafeta brněnské věznice, zastoupená týmem zaměstnanců ve složení: Tomáš Koutný, Aleš Fligl, Aleš Blažka, Jan Havelka a Matěj Černý. Tento úspěch nejenže potvrzuje sportovní dovednosti, ale také symbolicky předává štafetu od dosavadního koordinátora Dušana Raaba, který projekt za brněnskou věznici zastřešoval od jeho vůbec prvního ročníku, novému vedoucímu projektu Josefu Křivánkovi.

Yellow Ribbon Run má od svého vzniku jasný cíl – bojovat proti předsudkům, které lidem s trestní minulostí ztěžují návrat do společnosti, a podpořit jejich reintegraci. Projekty zaměřené na zlepšení rodičovských návyků a udržení kontaktu s dětmi jsou klíčovým prvkem této iniciativy. Od svého uvedení v roce 2016, kdy projekt vznikl díky Gabriele Slovákové, emeritní ředitelce Věznice Kuřim a současné ředitelce trestní politiky Ministerstva spravedlnosti ČR, se Yellow Ribbon Run stal symbolem naděje a druhé šance.

Žlutá stužka, inspirovaná písní „Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree“ Tonyho Orlanda, symbolizuje návrat z vězení a úspěšné začlenění do společnosti. Běh se stal nejen sportovním, ale i společenským zážitkem, který přináší naději těm, jenž se snaží znovu najít své místo ve světě. Příští ročník nese příslib ještě masivnější účasti a širšího mezinárodní zapojení. „Naším cílem a úspěchem však není vítězství, ale především úspěšný nový start“. 

Yellow Ribbon Run in Prague's Říčany Celebrates Its Ninth Year: Convicted Men as Fathers in Sneakers

Prague, June 11, 2024 (PS CR) – The 9th annual Yellow Ribbon Run (YRR) relay race took place in the Prague´s forest park by Marvánek Pond, aiming to support the integration of people with criminal records. This year’s event focused on fathers striving to reconnect with their children and families, bringing numerous poignant and inspiring moments. 

At the starting line, over 900 runners gathered, including supporters from state and non-profit organizations as well as companies that collectively endorse not only the idea of the Yellow Ribbon but also the employment of people after serving their sentences. This event, which annually unites running enthusiasts with the goal of supporting second chances, has attracted interest from European countries as well. Non-profit organizations from Norway, Croatia, Latvia, and Lithuania plan to organize their own runs inspired by the Czech model.

The success of the event was traditionally supported by the familiar face of Czech Television presenter Barbora Černošková, the patron of the children's part of the race. The project’s ambassador, actor and screenwriter Petr Čtvrtníček, added a touch of humor and lightness to the event with his presence. The band Gipsy Brothers with David Kraus provided musical accompaniment, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

The victory in the run was once again claimed by the relay team from the Brno prison, represented by a team of employees consisting of: Tomáš Koutný, Aleš Fligl, Aleš Blažka, Jan Havelka and Matěj Černý. This success not only confirmed their athletic prowess but also symbolically handed over the baton from the previous coordinator, Dušan Raab, who had overseen the project from its very first year, to the new project leader, Josef Křivánek.

Since its inception, Yellow Ribbon Run has had a clear goal – to combat the prejudices that make it difficult for people with criminal records to return to society and to support their reintegration. Projects aimed at improving parenting skills and maintaining contact with children are key elements of this initiative.

Since its introduction in 2016, when the project was founded by Gabriela Slováková, the former director of Kuřim Prison and the current director of penal policy at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic, Yellow Ribbon Run has become a symbol of hope and second chances. The yellow ribbon, inspired by the song “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree” by Tony Orlando, symbolizes the return from prison and successful reintegration into society.

The run has become not only a sporting event but also a social experience that brings hope to those trying to find their place in the world again. Next year promises even greater participation and broader international involvement. "Our goal and success, however, is not victory, but primarily a successful new start.
