New accommodation capacities opened
PRAGUE, April 1 (VS ČR) - brand new accommodation capacities were opened today in Světlá nad Sázavou Prison. By the inauguration of the new building, the Czech Prison Service gained up to 182 new places for women prisoners in a completely new building.
The new building has cells and bedrooms with a maximum capacity of two to four prisoners, its own kitchen, medical unit, or visiting hall. It also has a specific walking yard located on the roof and boasts some "green" technology: rainwater is used for flushing toilets, and there are solar panels on the roof for gaining energy.
Světlá nad Sázavou is the only solely women's prison in the Czech Republic. The prison in Světlá also features a Mothers with Children Unit for incarcerated women with their (up-to-three-years-old) kids. The prison's capacity rose to 945 places.
